I paint, draw, and sketch for myself. Art has always been a hobby for me and I have even thought of pursuing art for my career. My favorite things about my art is that it shows what I love, my interest and the skills I possess. My favorite media of art is painting. Mixing colors is one of my favorite thing that is part of painting. Being able to create the color you used and just coming up with different colors. My favorite colors are black, white, and pink. Black and white are the base of every piece. With just those two colors you can make a black and white painting or charcoal and have all the colors necessary for it to have values. Pink is just a childhood color. Very stereotypical girl color. But it just describes me. Bubbly, social, and very child like.
My favorite piece of all of these, is my ceiling tile. Mermaid have always been a favorite of mine. The beauty of their tails fascinates me. In my head mermaids are creatures that have sea salt hair, hair that just has been exposed to the sea air and created their own wave and feel. I imagine their tails to be sparkling and beautiful with vibrant colors. Like the scales from the book "Rainbow Fish". I love when I'm really into my piece that I work on when I can and get it finish quickly. Most of the time when I start a project I become bored and not as motivated to work on it. My mermaid ceiling tile is one of the few that I was infinitely motivated to do. Although some of my work is realistic with shading and making the objects usually people look real and 3-D, I tend to like doing cartoon style drawings. Where everything is one color and very simple. But of course as an artist you have to be flexible of what you can do. That's why some of my pieces are different from the majority of mine. My Kangaroo Lady is that. I was inspired by Sebastian and his work. His mixed media and the differences of his work. I have 3 current works in progress. My bubblegum lady is very close to being finished. I'm doing something different with her. Using modeling paste to create texture instead of going in with a very small brush and doing hair by hair. Although the end result would be beautiful, I feel like I've done that with all my other pieces. The most challenging piece I'm working on is the meditating lady. Her hair and headdress has been a huge struggle. I did have her hair done already but it did not look right to me. I went over with black to redo it. That piece I think has the longest time spent on it. I know in the end when I am satisfied, will look graceful, detailed, and show the skills I possess. I am very pleased with all of my works of art. They are a glimpse of my personality. The whimsical, dramatic, different, and detail all show what kind of person I am. |
